Believe Inna Me Like Anju
Recently I saw someone post on their WhatsApp status “Me wish if somebody did believe inna me like how Anju believe inna de curfew.” Of course, I doubled over in laughter because the poster was trying to highlight the irony of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Jamaica despite the impositions of curfews by the Prime Minister. The post got me thinking though, that Anju really believes in these curfews. Why would someone for over a year continue to do the same thing, albeit with a few variations, if he did not believe in its efficacy. If only the people shared his convictions – they would strive to make it work. Further dissection of the WhatsApp post in question led me to infer that the poster wanted someone to believe in her. She wanted someone to have faith in her. She wanted someone to believe that she had the potential to achieve greatness. Who knows the profound effect that a belief in her could achieve?
